Car crashes are the number one killer of teens in the United States. Approximately 43 percent of crashes involving teen drivers are due to their inexperience and inability to recognize and anticipate hazards they encounter while on the road.

State Farm® is firmly committed to reducing teen crashes and deaths. A cornerstone of this commitment is a series of free tools and resources for teens, who are learning to drive, and their parents. Among them:

Road Aware™ is an online tool that helps teens to anticipate potential hazards while driving.  This program was developed based on state-of-the-art driver training research and uses cutting edge streaming media to simulate a drive on your personal computer.

Road Trips™ is an interactive, online tool that gives parents the support they need to create practice driving plans, log progress and increase communication with their teen about safe driving habits. The program was developed as a result of a multi-year research program between State Farm and the researchers at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia <link to www.teendriversource.org>.

Driver Feedback™ is a mobile application for smartphones. This app monitors a teen’s driving and gives feedback on factors such as acceleration, braking and cornering, rating the trip and offering tips for safer driving.

Steer Clear® Safe Driving Discount is a program that reinforces safe driving behavior among young drivers.  Drivers under age 25 who complete Steer Clear may be eligible for a discount on their State Farm auto insurance.  The program can be completed in three convenient ways: (1) meet with your agent to get materials, (2) print the materials from the website or (3) download the free app for your Android, iPhone or iPod Touch.

All of these tools and more are available on the State Farm Teen Driver Safety Website.
