If I want to test drive a car from a private party will I be covered with my current insurance policy while doing so? I can't buy a car without driving it first and I can't trust that the seller has insurance on it. I want to be sure that I will be covered.

Make it as soon as possible. You need to transfer as you are staying in other place.

Hi Jenny does the above comment (30days) apply in the state of Florida? please let me know...it's very important... thank you

Typically you have 30 days to report a newly acquired car to your agent or insurance provider. That requires that all cars in the household are insured by the same company. Until you transfer the insurance, you may want to carry the purchase documents showing it is newly acquired and your old ID cards as proof of insurance. Be sure to contact your agent or insurance provider as quickly as possible, the process usually only takes minutes.
