Can cleaning with bleach be a bad thing?

I really like to keep a clean house. I use a bleach solution on the tile floors of the bathrooms and kitchen. Over time, can this be bad for them?

I am a bleach freak also. I use 1:7 bleach/water solution on toilets, shower walls, sinks, and on the tiles in my kitchen and bedroom. I have a bottle of bleach in each bathroom. The only disadvantage I have found is that bleach can discolor, damage, or dry out your tile grout. It can permanently discolor fabrics, of course, but we both already know that. I have yet to read about any pathogens that can survive a dosage of bleach, and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) reverts to salt and water in the environment, so it is less harmful than some other cleaners. At work, my Biomedical students use a 1:7 bleach-spray solution to clean their lab, since some of their experiments involve growing bacteria and viruses, as well as various (gross) forensics experiments. After you mix the solution, it is good for about 10 days, then it begins losing its effectiveness.
